Healing through Integration and Connection. Learn to dance with your darkness so you can begin to experience your light

Madelyn Sauget, LCSW

Madelyn received her Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Saint Louis University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).   Her experiences have included working with groups, individuals, and families from diverse backgrounds in settings including residential, education, nonprofit organizations, and mental health agencies.  Madelyn has spent the last several years working/training at The Island Institute for Trauma Recovery.

Madelyn currently works with adolescents and adults who have experienced complex trauma. She utilizes a variety of treatment modalities in conjunction with Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, including but not limited to Psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, DBR, and Somatic Awareness Therapy. Madelyn believes her role as a clinician is to create a safe space that cultivates awareness, empowerment, and self-compassion. You can expect when working with Maddie to learn how to let go of what no longer serves you through connecting to your body and emotions.

The Snow Moon encourages a gentle exploration into this place of pause, a gradual unearthing of what lies beneath the still surface.

When we are thrown into the depths of a traumatic experience we can feel like we are surrounded by darkness. It feels as though the constant reminders of our trauma show up in our emotions, body sensations, and distressing memories. We begin to feel disconnected from ourselves and the world around us.   How do we find this place of reintegration and connection?

Snow Moon Therapy works with clients in conjunction with horses. Through this relationship, we can cultivate awareness around identifying our bodies and minds’ patterns that have developed based on our past experiences. Once we can identify the patterns we can encourage change. Through a trauma-informed lens, the clinician guides the client to reconnect with their body and begin to understand how trauma impacts their nervous system. Together we can begin to understand how trauma shows up for you as an individual and work together to reprocess trauma.
