Who Is Trauma Therapy For?
Trauma therapy is for anyone who has experienced or witnessed an event that made their nervous system believe they were no longer safe. This might have been a situation that threatened your life or the life of someone else, or an experience that left you feeling terrified, helpless, or deeply overwhelmed.
When something frightening happens, our nervous system is designed to protect us. Sometimes, even after the danger has passed, our brain and body continue responding as though we're still unsafe. This can leave us feeling on edge, easily startled, emotionally overwhelmed, or constantly waiting for something bad to happen.
Over time, these experiences can shape how we relate to others, how we move through the world, and how safe we feel in our everyday environments. You may notice yourself avoiding certain situations, struggling to trust people, feeling disconnected from yourself, or reacting in ways that don't seem to match what's happening in the present moment.
Trauma therapy helps your nervous system recognize that the danger is no longer happening. Rather than simply talking about what you've been through, trauma therapy focuses on helping your mind and body regain a sense of safety so you can feel more present, connected, and confident in your daily life.
